Donnie Murphy is Killing It

Donnie Murphy is a journeyman utility infielder.  Since making his debut in 2004, he's played for the Royals, Athletics, Marlins, and now Cubs.  He's never played in more than 52 games in a season, mostly due to him not being very good.  Basically, he serves as organizational depth.  Since joining the Cubbies a few weeks ago he's done nothing but kill it, and by "it", I mean the baseball.  He has 8 homeruns in 16 games, to go along with a .328 batting average, 1.191 OPS, 11 runs scored, and 15 RBI.  Maybe the 30 year old has finally hit his stride.  Or maybe he's just hit a hot streak and will quickly tumble down to career norms (.216/.693),

Newbies Allowing Zilch

The Minnesota Twins Andrew Albers is the new kid on the block making the most noise.  The rookie has made 2 MLB starts, going 17.1 innings without allowing a run.  To go along with his 0.00 ERA, he's also rocking a 0.40 WHIP.  Nice!

Chia-Jen Lo/Astros, Rob Wooten/Brewers, Luis Coleman/Royals, and Tanner Roark/Nationals have also acclimated well to the MLB uniform, allowing no runs in any or their appearances thus far.  In fact, Coleman has pitched in 15 games without surrendering a run.  Let's see how this crew of newbies finish out the 2013 season.
