i am the creater of the post. let me tell you 5 things they need to change to improve in 2012? My first thing is they need to find a replacement in the gm spot. My second thing is that they need some power hitters to back up their bullpen. My third thing is that they need to get some pitchers to win games if you don't have a good rotation you won't win games. My forth thing they need to be more patient at the plate if you are patient you will have a chance to win the ball game. My fifth thing find a new manger and front office so they can rebuild their organization and make it better and a contender to make it to the postseason

Lance Berkman would look good playing 1st for them.

Fire everyone and hire new, competent people to work and play for them

They need to sign one of the big 3 free agents: Reyes, Pujols, or Fielder. If they sign Reyes, move Starlin to 3B, where hopefully he won't get so bored playing the hot corner. I suppose Pujols or Fielder makes more sense. Then they could let LeMaheiu play 3B. For pitching, their staff won't be better than average, but they can make it average by signing some cheap pitching talent. I wouldn't pay more than $8M/yr for most of the SP on the market. I would like to get Buehrle and I'd pay him a good $15M/yr for 3 years. No pitchers beyond 3 year deals though. Sadly, our farm has no SP or I would just go with those guys and not waste the money. The Cubs need to hire a smart GM that understands the value of the ballplayers, which includes defense and walks. He also needs to understand how players decline with age and not overpay for older players. In short, a sabermetric GM. They need some new scouts or something too because the draft picks have been horrible. None of them have panned out except for Starlin and even he has some glaring flaws.

I think the biggest concern has to be the starting pitching. as soon as we can get a new gm we gotta sign a pitcher. I think Cj Wilson would be a great fit, and make for a good combo a the top with garza. If we can't get wilson then maybe burhle or E. Jackson. dont ttake the chance on Darvish(japanese phenom) as we saw how that worked out with fukudome. Resign Pena.
