Mr. Honest- Jose Guillen

Jose Guillen- "I'm embarrassed by the money that I making, and playing the way I've been playing. I'll swear that on my kids' (lives). I feel very embarrassed. Sometimes, I feel I should take money out of my own pocket and buy tickets for every fan. Because you know what? For a $12 million man, these are not the numbers you should be expecting. I admit it. I'm not playing to my potential."

2009 stats- .245/.688, 30 r, 8 dbl, 9 hr, 40 rbi.

It's not his fault he's being paid a ludicrous amount of money, point the finger of blame at the Royals GM. Guillen may be struggling to produce, but he gets respect points in my book for laying it out there and being completely honest. It's refreshing to hear an athlete speak the truth like that. Adam Eaton, Jason Schmidt, and some others would be much more likable should the do the same. Also, just imagine if Jose did go and buy a bunch of tickets for 1 game for the fans. That would be enormously generous and unprecedented.

I hate Depeche Mode, but there's something about this song that draws me in.

You think Guillen would really buy something for fans?

Nah, he was just venting his frustration with himself.

i agree-there's no way jose guillen would buy every fan a ticket. but at least he's honest about saying that he sucks

I heard that Guillen is buying a series of 35 tickets for each remaining home game for underprivledged kids. Good seats too.

If that is true, I give much respect to Guillen (Jose, not Ozzie).
