From Batboy to Player to GM

Ruben Amaro Jr. has spent his entire life in baseball. His father, Ruben Amaro Sr., was a utility infielder in the Majors for 11 seasons. Senior later became the 1st base coach for the Phillies, and Junior performed batboy duties during that time (1980-1983). From there he went on to become a standout player at Stanford, from which the Angels drafted him in the 11th round in 1987. He came to the Phillies in a swap for Von Hayes in 1991. Rube played 8 MLB seasons for the Angels, Phillies (2 stints), and the Indians, posting a weak career line of- .235/.663, 99 r, 43 dbl, 9 trpl, 16 hr, 100 rbi, and 15 sb in 485 games playing mostly in the outfield.

Currently he's attempting to put his most impressive stamp on the game as the general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. He served as assistant GM under Ed Wade and Pat Gillick before taking the throne in the 2008 offseason. He's made some good deals (locked up Ryan Madson, Ryan Howard, Jayson Werth, Cole Hamels, and signed Raul Ibanez) and some bad deals (2 years to the 46 year old pitcher Jamie Moyer and $2.5M to Chan Ho Park). He's attempting to land stud pitcher Roy Halladay, and if/how he does it could cement his place in Phillies history (favorably that is). He just signed Pedro Martinez to a 1 year $1M deal in hopes he can supply some quality starts over the last couple months of the season. I feel he needs to address the atrocious righthanded bench options for the Phillies (Eric Bruntlett and John Mayberry Jr. are currently batting far south of .200). Any way you look at it though, the Phils are primed for another playoff spot and if Amaro can guide them to another World Series the season will be deemed a success.

Interesting Tidbits- Amaro is both Spanish and Jewish. He's been with the Phillies in some capacity for each of the last 4 World Series ('80 & '83- batboy, '93- player, '08- assistant GM). Was traded to Cleveland for Heathcliff Slocumb, who pitched 2 stellar seasons for the Phils.

Apparently Hitler hates Ruben Amaro Jr.

The jury is still out on Rube. If he deals away young talent such as JA Happ, Kyle Drabek, Dominic Brown, or Michael Taylor I'll be pretty pissed.

If those guys bring back a Cy Young Award contender, I support the move. I don't think they'll give up Taylor if it costs them Drabek and Happ though. Brown should be enough.

I linked to you guys today, btw.

Generic Viagra (sildenafil citrate; brand names include: Aphrodil / Edegra / Erasmo / Penegra / Revatio / Supra / Zwagra) is an effective treatment for erectile dysfunction regardless of the cause or duration of the problem or the age of the patient.
Sildenafil Citrate is the active ingredient used to treat erectile dysfunction (impotence) in men. It can help men who have erectile dysfunction get and sustain an erection when they are sexually excited.
Generic Viagra is manufactured in accordance with World Health Organization standards and guidelines (WHO-GMP). Also you can find on our sites.
Generic Viagra is made with thorough reverse engineering for the sildenafil citrate molecule - a totally different process of making sildenafil and its reaction. That is why it takes effect in 15 minutes compared to other drugs which take 30-40 minutes to take effect.
Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.
