Being a boxscore junkie, I pay close attention to newbies that are making a lasting impression. These are the rookies that most fans haven't heard of, unless you happen to be a follower of that particular team. Well, here at More Hardball we would like to start showcasing these up-and-comers. So, without further ado, More Hardball is proud to present the first "Name to Know" in the form of a mustachioed relief pitcher named Clay Zavada.
Clay Pflibson Zavada is a 24 year old lefty in the Arizona Diamondback's bullpen. In 12 games he's gone 11.1 innings, allowing only 7 hits and 3 walks, for a 0.00 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. He's registered 12 strikeouts, 1 win, and 3 holds. Those are some awesome stats even for the most seasoned of relief pitchers let alone some funny named rookie. Well, this greenhorn doesn't only own a peculiar moniker, he also has the finest groomed mustache in all of baseball. With facial hair and numbers like that, he's sure to become a fan favorite. He's already a More Hardball favorite.
Kind of reminds you of Rollie Fingers huh?
