Amusing Athletics

Sometimes it is unavoidable for certain names to trigger literal images in one's mind. For the Oakland Athletics, there are four players whose names meet this criteria.

The A's are celebrating Matt Holliday this season. This stellar slugger has hit over .300 in the last four seasons (he hit .290 in his first, and currently has the same average). In Tuesday night's game against the Red Sox, Holliday knocked in a two run double. Last night, he drove in the A's second, and final, run of the game. Travis Buck returns this season after being plagued by injuries last year. Tuesday evening, Buck earned his third hit of the game (a double) at the bottom of the 12th inning, which resulted in the A's 6-5 victory. Last night all he could do was hit fly balls out to center and left field.

Ryan Webb has yet to make his MLB debut, while Russ Springer has only pitched four innings so far this season allowing a total of 3 hits, and striking out 5 batters. As the season progresses, the 41 year old will have more chances to spring into action. Currently, the A's have won 4 games, and lost 5.

If it weren't for the antlets, Travis Buck would look like a centaur.

Isn't Matt Holliday Jewish?

Honestly, I don't really know, and don't see as to why it really matters.
