You Play Ball Like a Girl!

There are many great baseball movies...61*, Bull Durham, Babe, 8 Men Out, Summer Catch, Major League (only the original), Rookie of the Year, the Rookie, Little Big League, Bad News Bears (once again original only), Fields of Dreams, Angels in the Outfield, For Love of the Game, and Debbie Does Dallas (ok, so that's porn). Anyway, you get the point...and I actually own almost everyone of those movies. If it's a movie about baseball, I'm down with it! Although all those movies have their own unique intrigue and entertainment value they simple do not measure up to the best. In my professional-amateur opinion no baseball movie comes close to the best of all-time...the Sandlot! The movie isn't only a great baseball movie, it's a damn good movie period!

"You're killing me Smalls, you're killing me!"

"I don't know who signed it...some Baby Ruth or something."

"Once that ball goes over that fence...it's gone FOR-EV-ER! FOREVER!"

"What the hell is he doing?"

I think I may have some disagreements with you on this one. My personal favorite is definitely a toss up between Major League or Field of Dreams, with The Sandlot being a close 9th or 10th. But Sandlot is a very good movie. Where the problem arises for me is the rest of the list I'm not much of a fan of Little Big League, Summer Catch, or Angels in the Outfield, I mean Tony Danza is in it. But I HATE rookie of the year, I can't stand it, I wanted to punch that kid in the face, and American Pie only made me hate him more. One thing that I've always found hilarious about certain baseball movies is that there are millions of people in America who played baseball growing up so how come there are so many movies where the players look like they have no idea what they're doing.

Eric- I'm a teacher, and I try to do wiffle ball as an activity and you'd be suprised how many of the kids have no clue what they're doing.

Sandlot is my favorite, I watch that movie about 5 times a year.

And don't mess with Tony Danza. Hell Elton John even sang a song about him "Hold me closer *tony dancer." *=tiny dancer...hahaha!

do your students read your blogs??

Benjah- my students don't know I have a blog...but if they read it I wouldn't really care. As I'm not as profane as a teacher, but I still showcase the same twisted humor.
